SYLVAN LAKE WINTER VILLAGE
The Winter Village lights up our dark skies December through March. One of the “must travel to” winter experiences of Central Alberta. Make sure to make us part of your adventures.
This will be the third year for the Sylvan Lake Winter Village, and their are some ambitious plans to expand the lighting display and to light up the outdoor ice rink. The committee has high hopes to have more community programming happen at the site and to engage the business community to host bonfires.
The drive for sponsorship is now underway and is a key element that needs to be in place to keep the Winter Village alive. This lighting spectical is funded entirely by sponsorship and grants, and is organized by volunteers.
Anyone looking to get involved either thru sponsorship or volunteering to bring the Winter Village to life is welcome to contact the Chamber, because we need all the help we can get!
We are creating a new attraction down Centennial Street with the cooperation of businesses between Lakeshore Drive and the train tracks. Our hope is that this initiative will drive more traffic to the area this season and further remind people to shop local.
This initiative is spearheaded through the Winter Village Committee and will be free for any business on this stretch of Centennial Street if they register to be a part of the Passport to Christmas Program and/or Planter Parade, otherwise it will cost $25.
The Committee will supply basic pre-assembled wooden snowmen for participating businesses to get creative and personalize their snowman in any way they see fit!
We look forward to seeing the public make a point to take a stroll and stop in at these businesses this season...and for them to let us know which are their favorites!.
Any Centennial Street business interested can contact our committee member in charge of this initiative, Kjeryn Dakin (Bukwildz).
Kjeryn can be reached by email at: firstname.lastname@example.org
Who wants in on the Christmas Planter Parade at the Winter Village this year? We need your creativity to decorate over 40 planters on the pier! The booking deadline is November 20th. Click for more information
We're looking for businesses to register for Passport to Christmas. It's all about shopping local during the holidays, so the more the merrier. Pass this along to any local businesses you know so they can get in on it. Thanks! Click for more information
